Dastan-e-Mohabbat

on Monday, February 15, 2010

Aksar is mann me ek prashn uthta hai,
samudri toofan samaan uthal-puthal machata hai.
Kyon hamesha dosti ke tarazu me pyar tulta hai,
yahi ek sawaal dimaag ko kachondh jaata hai.
jab-jab maanga hamne kisi se iska jawaab,
mili utaar me ek pyari muskaan lajawab.
Logon ko niruttar dekh mann lachar ho utha,
sabko bebas dekh mand-mand hans pada.
Manzar vichaar kar apna, sihar utha agle hi shan,
hriday me fir hui ek halki si chubhan.
Soch kar saham gaya ki kahin koi uski lachaari par hansta hoga,
jaane kaun mod par gam uski raah takta hoga.
Unki bewafai ka kehar kuch is tarah barpa,
zindagi ko hanri jhakjhod kar rakh diya.
Unke sitam se khud ko maut deni chahi,
par unki yaad jeene ko majboor kar gayi.
Kuch is tarah bichde hum is samaj se,
duniya use dekh awak reh gay.
Bikhra mera aashiyana tinka-tinka aise,
sukhe patton ko uda le gaya ho toofan jaise.
Jal kar khak hue mere armaan kuch is tarah,
door-door tak roshni ho gayi,
zaalim ke path ko jagmag,
hamare jeevan ko ghor andhkar me dubo gayi.
Roshni se ab hamara koi vaasta nahi,
andheron se joojhna hame aata nahi,
jeeye jaate hai unke lautne ki chah me,
doobe rehte hain apni tanhaiyon me.
nahi aata hai unka koi paigam,
koi gam nahi,
zindagi bitane ke liye,
sanam ki madhoshi bhi kuch kam nahi.

INVICTUS

Read this poem a long time back but came to know of its significance lately. This is the poem that inspired the great Nelson Mandela during his struggle.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Poet: W.E.Henley

Insaaniyat- The Eternal Flame

Khoon ki nadi, lahu ki baarish, nafrat ki aandhiyan, laashon ka kabristan,
har taraf yahi manzar hai |
Insaan ne khud kiya insaaniyat ko nist-e-naabut hai |
Fatvon aur farmanon ne kiya hai sab ko behaal,
Dharm ki aad me chhipe shaitanon ka bichaya hua hai ye jaal |
Har rajnitigya ka bas hai yahi kehna,
ek gandi macchli ne kiya hai pure talaab ko ganda |
Ghhoskhori, bhrashtachari ne mil ke kiya hai sab ko n***a |
Sacchai, seva-bhav ka ghoom raha chakra manda |
In sabki rahegi maang, jab tak hai aam janta shaant,
Gandhigri ko apnaon doston, samay ki yahi hai demand |
Jab tak chup rahoge,
in sab bimariyon ke aaga yun hi jhukte rahoge |
Ab utho aur umeed ki ek kiran bano,
andhere ko door kar swarnim yug ki ore chalo |
Wo lamha kitna haseen aur suhana hoga,
jab har taraf shanti aur RAM_RAJYA hoga |
Sahi mayno me tab jagega Hindustan,
jab Bapu ke usolon ko apnaega har ek insaan ||

Love- Light Forever

Gham-e-asshiqui, sazaa-e-mohabaat, har deewane ko naseeb hui hai,
jitna sataya hai iss zaalim duniya ne, mohabbat utni hi parwaan chadhi hai |
Laila-majnu, shiri-farhad zamaane ko hai yaad,
in yuglon ki fehrist me ek naam kahin hamar bhi hoga |
Duniya chahe rakhe na rakhe yaad hamari deewangi ko
Hamare amar-prem ka khuda gawah hoga ||

Bharat- Concept or Identity !!! Part 2

on Friday, November 20, 2009

This article tackles with the issue of Kashmir raised in the original post.

Kashmir, The Heaven Falls Here, is and will always be the most contentious issue in India. It is the single-handedly the biggest concern that transgresses the very core of our patriotism constantly. Agreed, that Kashmir is far from normality. There is a far greater rage boiling under the calm exterior that the government exudes.
Secessionism is a grave matter of concern. But terrorism, both internal as well as external far outstrips any danger the valley faces.
Being rank outsiders, we are not the best ones to pass judgements but having few friends and teachers hailing from the beautiful valley, their thoughts and the reality the Kashmiri's face.
These terrorists, as many proclaim, possess the right to their own fate. But it is one of the biggest understatement. If the buck was to be passed to them to decide their future, it won't be long before it'll be an out-and-out Muslim state(do we want another Gujrat or Modi for that matter). It'll soon be proclaimed a Pakistan state, (already they have half our land thanks to Uncle Sam. Will it be another 1971 ? What if tomorrow Pakistan claims Jaipur as their own, then what Delhi ?

Kashmiri Pandits living their for centuries have been chased out from their ancestral homes and the state. Who are these people to decide other's fate ? The eternal boat-market has already lost it's charm and aura and what remains is just another piece of history being thrust onto the people.

Agreed that Delhi has never been fair to Kashmir. Sitting in air-conditioned rooms, you can not decide the fate of Lal Chowk, the terrorist's hub ? It has witnessed more blood than other place in the world for so long. Insurgency is one of the biggest dampeners in this regard. Peace talks won't serve any purpose. Strong leadership and maybe high-handed manner is required at the helm. With Omar Abdullah sitting at the perch, one can be more than hopeful that the Land of Kashmir may proclaim in the times to come to have seen some historical decisions during his time. It may take time but the Kashmir has in it to reclaim its lost charm and glory.
Keep your fingers crossed.

P.S. Due to sleeplessness, freaked out mind and falling health, imprudent choice of words is highly regretted. Feel free to point out errors and leave your much respected and sought after comments.

Legendary BBC reporter Mark Tully, when interviewed after retirement about his thoughts on India, " I feel that the whole calculation has gone wrong for Bharat as there is lack of Nationalistic concept.” Today whatever adverse is happening in the country is because of the lack of nationalism. Many future generations will have to face the ill effects of this. The rulers just want to hold on to power, not bothering whether the country survives or not!"

He couldn't have been more right. Even after 62 years of Independence, there is no such picture so as to suggest Hindi as our National Language. It's still coined as the official language. On the contrary, it is seen that hatred towards Hindi has grown in Southern states. But why does everyone keep forgetting the North-Eastern and Eastern part of the country where the situation is the worst. Hindi speaking people are being shot by various groups (read ULFA and their national body).
It's high time our National Leaders understand the gravity of the situation and make some efforts. Strong leadership skills (like that of Sardar)is what the country demands of our Netas right now. Having state languages as their official language will not solve the issue but will only lead to more hatred and divison.

An anecdote:
Once an Englishman visited Great Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at his place. He greeted him in English to which Vidyasagar replied in Hindi. The gentleman thought maybe the great man doesn't know English and tried conversing with him in Hindi. This time the latter replied in English. The English got furious and asked an explanation for such a rude attitude. Then very calmly, Vidyasagar ji replied that when you were giving respect to your mother-tounge, I was paying tribute to mine. But when you honoured my mother-tounge, it's my moral duty to respect yours. The British national fell on his toes and asked for forgiveness. He said that he has realized what was being said about him was true to every word.

Moral of the story: When the leaders of our country travel to other nations, they speak in English as compared to other leaders who make it a point to converse in their National Language when meeting with dignitaries of the country they are travelling too. We take it as a matter of contempt and bringing shame to us when our great personalities speak in Hindi at various events world-wide, thinking that the leaders of our nation can't speak English.

Other issues raised to be answered in the following posts.

Political Scenario in India

on Thursday, May 21, 2009

No rocket science is needed to understand that come May 16 there will be no single party in majority to form the government. It is ample clear from the way the major parties (BJP and Congress) are going out of their way to please regional parties. It has become a tradition of late of breaking allies of other parties. But this election has gone one-step ahead in that too. It has become one of the ground-breaking elections where leaders of nationalist parties have come out in open to woo the the parties that have been allies of their opposition (read Congress and Janta Dal(U)).So it is really a matter of time that we all understand that coalition government is the only way forward. Now comes two major issues associated with such government. These two issues are like the two faces of a coin, seperate yet indispensable.
The coalition government is both a boon as well as bane to the country. With regional parties in the fray, one thing that is certain is that the respective regions of such parties won't be neglected as they will have a say in the government. But with it comes a disater in the making. If there is a disagreement over any issue (123 agreement), and these local parties withdraw support government will fall. Thus there will be early elections. As such there is a financial cisis in the world and an early election will lead to tumultuous circumsatnces. More burden on the average middle class through taxes and thus downturn of the economy.Though an absolute majority government is a major threat as it can lead to disguised dictatorship. Thus it can be clearly concurred that coalition government is the need of countries like India. Nothing is perfect but we have to work to make it perfect.
